last post from Portugal !

well well .. its coming to an end ..

last night ..
yesterday was my birthday .. ( thanks for the wishes, i needed them :) )

spent the night with my coch surfing friends i Porto .. three artists ! one photographer ( sarah9 and painter ( Anna) and architekt ( migel) .. they were nice enough to let me sleep in there studeo .. was a good night .. we had a few drinks , a Doner , and then went to sleep ... today sarah showed me the city of Porto .. and now i just saw a movie about Fado ( i think) ,.. its a very sad , and good portogies music .. all love it but say they hate it .. its really good ..

anyway .. i am 29 ! and will be in germany starting tomorow ..

plans for the near future ,,
finish my thesis .. finish my exams .. be a psychologist :)

and finally get a dog !

Final destination Porto

just to keep the time line uncut .. i was one more night in Lisbon, was at the Schontal´s house :) was great and inspiring as expected ..

then in the morning i went to cumbra .. were i met the crazy trance fans to whom i was send by the naked brother of Maria .. the lady io stayed at her house in Lisbon ..

anyway .. they were three lovly girls and two young men .. they were very wellcoming.. again felt like home very fast .. and was charmed by the diffrent talents they have .. ( specially by patricias fotos) ..

after spending a very (very) hardcore party night in the student city .. i contenued my quest and now im in porto .. it would be really nice if i succide in contacting the lady at her studeo i am staying tonight .. otherwise it will be a dog night again ...

in Lisbon

im in the home of three med students i met on Couch surfing . have bin there for three nights now .. feeling like home .. all three of them and there friends i met are amazing . felt at home after very short time , had a normal hot shawer, maria made foor for us ( was terrible) , but had wonderfull conversations and i finally understand why id the EU bad for some countries ( like portugal, Romania .. )altho they get lots of subsedisation..

anyway .. will stay in Lisbon for one more night for sure , then maybe visit another city on the way to Portso.. will post the photos as soon as i can ..

when time and space dont colide.

ok frenshi .. we meat tomorow in cascas at 6 near the turist information if not at 6 hen at 8.
Franshi : yes ..yes ...

i arrive 20 minutes too late ( 8:20) .. after i didnt pay for the train from lisbon to cascas .. the ticket controler wanted me to pay 160 euro .. ( or at least this is what i understood with my almost ziro portogies) ... at the end he left me in peace and didt even take the money i offered for the ticket ( by the way .. i really wanted to pay him .. i just didnt have time to bye the ticket on the station and thought i can pay him on the train ... i cant !!!)


anyway .. i go there .. no frenshi .. small city .. very nice .. great weather .. nice beach .. i eat something and look for the most non frenshi place to sleep .. brake all the frenshi rules .. i sleep on the beach .. not on the sand .. but climb a rock formation .. and sleep up .. very very unkonfortable .. but somehow i manage to put my clothes undewr me so that its relativly pleepable .. and during the night the tide took the water higher and iwas sleeping on an Iland !!!! sorounded only by water ( ok it was only half a meter high .. but still .. it made me feel very safe .. since the homless that is soposed to steal my stuff will have to pass the water .. and i am sure a homless dosnt like water .. not to bath and not to pass ..

so in the morning i had the best view .. i will post the pictures now .. hope it will work ..

anyway .. i will meet the frenshi tonight in cascad or something like that .. spend the night there and come back to lisbon tomorow for my first Couchserfing in Portugal .. already exited about it :)

it was like this : i was walking with the frenshi .. our bags were too heavy .. so we asked the lady selling silver to keep an eye on the bags .. now lets not forget the context here .. this is Sinatra .. were all is mistical .. and the most charming city in portugal .. romantic roades, gardens .. anyhow we leave the bags go walking .. the frenshi decides to do a long walk .. i go to a art doco exibition ( was intresting) .. when i come back to the bags and the lady seling we talk a little and she tells me her name !

do you understand !! her REAL name is schontal !!! i have bin writing about the rules of the schontal in the blog .. pople sayed maybe she dosnt exist !! but she does .. flesh and blood !! selling silver in Sinatra !! living in portugal !! the schontal is alive !!

anyway we went to the most amazing beach , saw a nice sunset .. ***************************************************** ( zenzored)
the next morning i helped her prepare for a market ( she sells also clothes for hippies) i built the tent with her , sat a little .. it was really nice .. met many of her freands .. then went for a long walk in the city of Lisbon !!! spent the day there .. then went to see the frenshi in Cascas ...

of course what intrests you is if there are new Schontal rules to release : and there is

just informing .. alll is fine , moving a city today .. geting closer to the beaches ( Alkobasa and Nazareh are next )
last night was a winw and bad songs from the 80`s for me and the frenshi ... was a little sad .. but as the frenschi sais ... ce la vie !!

the night of the Dog

we took thew train to the next city .. i dont even know its name .. its nice .. small .. unisco city (meaning it has a kastel and the EU pays hundreds of thausends of euro to renovates it) and the frenschi has a weekness to such cities.

anyway .. it was raining .. and since we are not good equped for the rain ( well i am but the frenschi not) so we needed to find a closed place to sleep .. and were can you find a closed place in a city .. genau .. hauses !!

so we found an abandoned house in the center .. it looked like a place from an american teen scary movie .. dark .. big .. full with bird shit, and spiders .. many rooms .. empty and dirty .. not stinking .. but has a small of oldness ... and somehow not used by the homeless nor the young people of the town .. very strange ..
naturally the frenshi was totally exited .. ( i told already how he likes toylet like places to sleep ) ... we found a corner that is relativly not dirty .. put our sleepingbags and went to sleep ... it wasnt a bad night after all ..

in the morning ( sunday morning) i went to cherche .. it was min away from our sleeping place .. it was a really good spirtual experince .. very tranqule .. it was full .. people from all ages . mopstly old . very big ..
then met the frenshi for the mornign tee .. then walking .. eati9ng sardins and feeding the pegions .. a very relaxed day ..

in portalegre day 2

still dog traveling .. all is fine and fun .. sleeping became normal .. we spend max 20 minutes looking for a place .. yesterday a littel outside the center .. a small bush .. very quite ( not in the morning) .. very nice weather .. sleeping like babys after 30 minutes .. in the morning run around steel some frutes from trees in the aria ,, have a first breakfast .. then to a small coffe place .. have a coffie and a patesry for 1.5 euro .. enjoy the morning sun .. and think of new rules of Schontal

so

Rule number three:

- you are alowed to eat meat .. but not more thhan one life is to be finished in one meal .

interpretation : you can eat pork .. but not schrimps for example ..
logic behind the rulle : Schontal is a pragmatic being ,, and not a fanatic one .. but has true concern about our nature and preserving it .. long live the schontal.

schontal rule number 4 :

- alwais try to leave the toylets you use a littel cleaner than the situation you found them.

expleanation : if 50% of the people falow this rule our toylet experince will be a pleasent one .. and the life of the people cleaning our toylets will be easyer .. .. a great inviormental and social rule .. long live schontal ..

there were some more rules i forgot them .. will inform when i remember ..

second day in Evora

a medium size city in the center of Portugal .. There is a university and many nice students..

last night we slept on one of the monuments of the city .. its an old roman monument .. i pitched my tent and the frenshi slept in his sleeping bag in a hole near .. was nice ..

before sleeping we went to a hippie pub in the city .. very big and alternative .. The wine was 80 cent!! For a full glass.. i had two and a bottle before we entered ..

in the city we met some nice people .. mostly students .. they were playing an interesting game ..

all the new students were called worms .. and are acting as some kind of slaves to the masters ( the third year students) .. i met a nice master .. Anna Sofia .. and she introduced me to her worms .. she had many .. the nicest was worm Sarah .. Master David was also nice .. and let me play with some of his worms also ...
its really funny .. since there are worms running around the city all day and night .. and masters humiliating them in many ways .. like painting there faces and making them sing in public and making them face the walls for 30 minutes and stuff like that ,,, we should do this in Germany .. with the new psychos !!


Anyhow.. we will stay one more night in the city .. and tomorrow we will continue to Portalegre ( in the east part of Portugal)...

ps: dad : i cant use skype since there is never a mic in the internet cafés here .. sorry.. Sometimes there is msn .. but not always ..

Close to the capital

we are in the center of portugal, and decided to go east, do a trip inside the country ( no beaches) and thenback to lisbon .. the frenschi will leave at the 8.10 i will stay one more week and leave at the 16.10


we are still sleeping out, the last two nights i used the tent, the first tie becaus e of the moskitos , the second because i liked it so much the first time .. today in the morning it was really strange, the tent was totaly wet from the outside, and a little fromthe inside, the weather is changing slowly, its still hot, but a little colder than the south .. i think the more north we go the colder it will get .. the cities are very similar toeach other .. the people are friendly, but the language barier makes it hard to have normal conversations with the people .. and i dont know whay but there are no travelers around .. maybe its the time ! dont know ..

in anycase all is going fine .. enjoing the time here .. and yesterday we did the math and we are spending money very wisly .. its costing me almost the same as living in germany to travel ...
for the rest of the trip we will spend 15 euro a day including busses and food ( for sleep we dont pay)

the Rules

ok travelers .. this is the moment you have bin waITING FOR .. THE RULES

:
the Axiome : travel light .. preferably less than 10 kilo including every thing ( better 8 kilo when traveling in hot countries)

1. thau shall ask for minimum of 5 DIFFRENT people wqhen trying to get somewere ( specially in medetranian countries.

2. thAU SHALL SLEEP IN HIDDEN PLACES : but there is alwais a risk of getting killed, raped, tourtchered or stolen

3. thau shall sleep in opened public places were everyone can see you :; but there is a risk of getting cought by the police ( and in some countries its worse than being stolen, killed tor..)

the rules of the Schontal : ( some say she is an urban legend .. but some say they have seen her , or even felt her deving existance .. in any case she is sopposed to be the ultimate traveler , she speakes only once a year and sais only one sentence that is carried by travelers and used by them .. the rules as they are presented here were never exposed to the masses .. so please use them carfully)

1. alwais make the brave choice and not necesearly the wise, fast one.
2. ********** ( zensored )

random sequrity rules :
1. hide your valubals in your sleepingbag next to your feet ( try to get a larger sleeping bag than you really need for the extra space

2. put stuff that will make nopise on your shues and backpack so that if someone is stealing them you will hear him ( and this sosent mean you should wake up, sometimes you let him steal if its a hidden placxe and you suspect he may kiss you ifd he is frightened ..

3. walk slowly, and long, better than fast and little.

the last few dazs in Portugal

first some good news .. the pics will be online today .. i am uploadi9ng them now.

sleeping : still sleeping like dogs .. but i decided its a the king of the dogs style .. i mean we sleep out, breath fresch air, the weather is great .. we normally have great views when we wake up .. the only negative side is sequrity .. but to this i wil add ferw words ( when talking about the rules of the frenschi )

we are currently in the south of Portugal .. moving slowly between small citys .. some are extreemly turistic, and some are simple and small .. we haven had much conversations with the people .. maybe because they speak little english and we speak no portugiese :) and our spanish is good only to get us a sandwitch ( and normally a diffrent one from what we really wanted ) .. but its really fine ..

Portugal .. till now i love it , great weather ( i never knew how important it is till now ) .. great colores !!i love the way they paint the houses .. orange, red, yellow .. ( old) .. it really adds to the atnosphere !!

it all began like this ..
frenshi : ah noooo its to cold ..
youssef : ko .. we go .. now !
Frenshi: nooooooo .. i dont want to move
youssef : yes .. we find a flight to Portugal

so we go get a flight ( that already LEFT schotlanmd and on its way to portugal) we go to the airport the next day .. happy and exited to leave the rain behind us onlt to discover that we missed oput flight in ONE DAY !!!!

so we beg and ask for a new flight and we dont want to pay bla bla .. they agree and we are in Portugal now !!
as i said ... SUN, great weather .. white buildings .. and many young people .. last night we slept in the center of the city in some kind of a tent we found in the street , something used for a street fest .. there was no one inside it so we slept there .. in the morning the people who are sopposed to take it away woke us up by banging on it tring to brake it above our heads !!!

so we woke up, said thank you and started to great day in Portugal ..
by the way .. io got a flight on the 16.10 ( one day aftewr my birtday) to Germany ..

as for the ones of you who said they may come :

the best night yet

we had a normal daz last night , just dogging wround in the city, the most butifull till yet ..

the gay working in the subway was really sweet .. bogul from Bengladesh .. we had a conversation ,, he told me about living in Belgum and even in Nurnberg .. with his family and two chidren .. working 70 houers a week !! 70 !! i didnt think it was possible !! anyway at the end he gave me a king size chiken sandwitch !! this is pure love .. ha ?

anyway the dog life was just begining .. the frenschi wanted to sleep under some stars in the city .. this time i didnt feel like actiung like a homless .. so we seperated for the night and this was a very good idia ..
i want to the highest point in the city .. and pitched my tent there .. it was lovly .. a little too much wind .. but really the best night i had in years .. totla darkness .. some old monuments ..a and the view of the city .. simply pricless :)
in the morning i met two very very friendly and nice americans who were traveling and calling it studing !! a dream life i may add ... i am looking forwqord to meeting them in Erlangen .. and they may come :)

toomuch rain

ok .. we are leaving !
the rain is reallz too much .. it rains all day !
and all night
last night we slept in a house, , people were living next to us , there was a little room ( as big as too singel beds, it was opened to the street , there was nothing in it .. i said no way we sleep there , cos it is 1. illigal 2. cold . 3. i had a new tent , waterproof !!!
but frenschi said ... its ok ! so i agreeed ( because i am a person of a genoras soul) so the night was not too bad ( the first time i feel a little cold !!) but the big news is : i lost my phone !!! and now i cant call the person w ewere soposed to meet in Ullaup ( Tommy) abd tell him we are not coming .. sorry tommy !! will write you an email now.

anyway we are leaving scholtland, and not to Irland nor England !! we go to marroco if it works with the visa , or portugal !
now i look for a cheap flight ..

from the north of Schotland

it must be fast again .. the internet i have for less than 10 min.
dwe are in a city called inverness , its the capital of the highlands of schotland,

again the people are wondefull, we are using busses and hitchhiking ..
its so easy yo hitchhick its inbelivable.. every second car stops .. and people are so oppen and funny !! young and old !

last night we slept in a castel (near a castel) in the center of the city, the tent was leaking , so the rain gotr indside .. and drunk schotisch people were talking to us all night .. aside from that it was a great experince ..


today i got a new backpack, and a tent .. cos my backpack broke, and the tent is waterproof .. so i juess i will be living like a birjua dog starting tonight ~:)

hi .. we slept last night in the airport, so it was not bad, now we have a buss in 20 min to an iland ion the north of schotland .. things here are not so expensive as we were told !! a sandwitch is 2 euro .. and people are soooooooooooo nice nad friendlz !!
i thinik its a begining of a love story between me and Schotland

Prolog

if you got an invitation here its one of two. eather you are family or friend .. in anycase I am writing this for you and me .. so read it ! 


Before it all began there was the word. ( my thesis)
then there was no more motivation to write it.
so a great decision to visit an ancient kingdom was made.

so starting next week ( in two days actually .. I will be travelling in England, Scotland and Irland.

the plan is so :
meet the Frenschi ( Alaein) .. maybe he will also write something in frensch.
walk allot
meet as many people as humanly possible.
make photos.
come back healthy.

my biggest conflict at the moment is if I should bye a sleeping bag , since mine is bad, and the weather there is going to be hard ( Rain and cold) . we shall see.

so the flight will leave from Frankfurt ( hahn) to Scotland. on 12.9
I will do my best to keep the blog updated for the sake of future generations nd from my experience it’s a great way to keeping contact with family, friends from home, and friend I meet on the way.

tips for travellers :
it’s a beginners typ, but worth mentioning :
the flight was cheap ( Ryan air) but the airports are so far away from the cities that I think it was not worth it .. so check the airports .
